CHOICESS is committed to the philosophy that persons with developmental disabilities have the right to request and receive whatever support is needed to live in their own home, obtain gainful employment and become productive members of the community.

Unfortunately, funding from the Regional Centers does not include many essentials or funding can take years to access. These range from motorized wheelchairs (five year wait), computer modifications and adaptive technology (no public funding), HUD subsidized housing (nine year wait), medical/hygienic supplies (not covered by Medi-Cal), vacations and recreational activities, conferences, educational opportunities, vehicles and maintenance, staff training, laptops for staff and home purchase assistance.

Once the prioritization process is complete, staff will move quickly to provide motorized wheelchairs, computer modifications and adaptive technology, rent subsidies, medical/hygienic supplies, educational and conference activities, staff training or laptops so staff can prepare progress reports in conjunction with clients in their own homes.

The goal of this project is to provide 50 individuals with developmental disabilities in the San Gabriel Valley with the support they need to live in their own homes, obtain gainful employment and become productive members of the community in 2004. If there is a particular area of CHOICESS; a funder would like us to utilize any grant monies awarded we would be pleased to accommodate such a request.
